The Ramsar Convention is the only global environmental treaty that deals with a particular ecosystem.

This workshop will provide activities tailored to the theme of the workshop. Guest speakers will take you through rice production and conservation of wetland habitat for wildlife. Arkansas feeds the world with its rice production. During the winter months, Arkansas’s managed rice fields together with natural wetlands provide the single most important resting and foraging habitat for North America’s migratory waterfowl. These flooded fields also help prevent erosion, control weeds and protect soil nutrients.
Educators:
Join us and learn more about our state’s vital role in rice production, how rice is grown, and partici-pate in related Project WET activities.
